This is $10 a week with Troy Price and I am Troy Price. I want to give you the information you need to find free or low cost offers that make you money. This podcast has a following that is growing and hungry for money. This Episode can best be titled, “Not Making Money Online.”

In case you have not listened to any news in the past 6 months, the world economy is taking a downturn. Now this downturn has hit my making money online directly in two separate ways. In this episode I wanted to share those specific sites that are no longer money makers an then offer a few places where you can use the internet to leverage off line efforts to make serious money in this down turned economy. Does that make sense? It certainly will by the end of the episode so let’s jump right into it!

First the bad news, awwwwww, the website that I use to host these fine podcasts have stopped a program that makes me money. They had a talkshoe cash program that paid host a well deserved portion of the revenue generated to talkshoe. Well, late last month they paused that program. So I will be receiving no more talkshoe cash. The second economic downturn that effects me personally comes from a site I recently shared on this podcast, www.brring.com changed their payout strategy. Formerly, they paid out for each call made to the bring number but as of June 15, 2008. Poof, only referrals are making money for the bring user. Man, isn’t that just peachy. So I have spent my time recently looking for ways that the internet can boost my off-line income and have found a few streams that I may be looking into. I wanted to share them with you far listeners, so sit back and let me know if they might benefit you…

There are oodles and oodles of homes for sale today that literally were at least 15% more expensive this time last year. At least that’s what CNN’s American Morning told me earlier this week. Let me put that in context. A $200,000 home last year is now $170,000 and a $100,000 house last year is now $85,000. So that’s the national average, but there are ways to find deep, deep discounted houses that are a steal if you qualify for them. Go to http://www.hud.gov/homes/ and find a house that the US government wants a family in. I am looking at my state’s listing and I see two houses that are listed in the $70,000’s but would have been at least double that last year. And to put that in context, that is a monthly payment of a little over $500 a month with more space and privacy than you could rent for $500 and, with the tax breaks there are for home ownership, you really could end out annually paying less than renting.

Secondly, according to that same cnn news report, this years bankruptcy rate are over 50% higher than last year. Now that does tell you how bad things are out there. But, with so many bankruptcies going on, you might want to consider how you can find some deeply discounted items through the US bankruptcy courts. I am not an attorney, and am not offering legal advice. Now with that said, let me share what I have done twice that has literally got me at the table with people buying store inventories for 15 cents on the dollar. If you buy new things that cheaply, you can have a yard sale or put up a table at a flea market and at least double your money. Anyway, where ever you are in the US, go to http://www.uscourts.gov/courtlinks/ and search the bankruptcy courts that serve your zip code area. There is a phone number and address to that court on that site. You then have you pour on the charm. Call or visit the court and ask a clerk for a list of recent bankruptcies and look for names of stores you recognize. Frequently something reads like John Smith DBA that’s doing business as Moe’s Tavern. And then ask for the attorney that is over the bankruptcy. What you do is contact the attorney and let them know you are interested in what might be for sale related to the bankruptcy. And they notify you of what is going on with the materials that you might be able to make some money on. You might have some misgivings about capitalizing upon other’s misfortunes, but you are entering the scene only after the legal decision to bankrupt has been made and someone is going to buy the items of interest, it might as well be you…

So, people this is really a downer of an episode, huh? I almost titled this one, “things are tough all over” but really if this episode can get someone into a home dirt cheap, or set some people up to make enough money for a great vacation by selling things they have acquired through the bankruptcy courts. I will be happy.

Do you have a success story from this podcast? Shoot me an email at email10aweek@aol.com. And, let me remind you of a new service I am sharing via the podcast. I loved as a kid gathering around the local radio at 9 a.m. over the summers and listening to swap n shop. People called in with things they wanted to sell and buy and ordinary people used the power of the radio to make some money. I want to bring that to the podcast. If you have a giftcard with an amount on it that you aren’t going to use, and you don’t want to pay ebay’s high fees. Give this podcast a try. You’ll reach at least 1000 people in the first week alone. And here, here is all I ask. If you make a sale. Keep me in mind the next time you are on paypal, and maybe donate a little bit back to the show. Just something to pay for bandwidth and equipment… All you need to do is call the listenerline at 6417153900 and then enter the show code 22505 and leave a message, like this person did. This one is actually a follow-up from last week… Listen…

So call or email in what you’d like to sale and maybe we can make your day a little brighter with some green in your pocket…

And with that, let me say good night and talk to you next week!

Welcome to this week’s ten minute lesson. This is $10 a week with Troy Price and I am Troy Price. I am scouring the internet for free or low cost offers that make you money. This podcast has a strong following of over 1000 downloads a week and growing. If you are a long time listener to the show, you know that I love Mypoints and have for some time. For instance, right now I have a $25 gift card for Gamestop that I have received in the mail this week from Mypoints. I do love it. Anyway, there are a few websites out there that have copied the Mypoints formula that are worth mentioning, So this episode can best be titled, ‘Making money online with free offers.” And as an extra bonus this week, I’m going to tell you about a blog that offers tips, tricks, and warnings about the reward programs out there. So sit back relax and enjoy the show.

OK first things first, If you are a new listener to the podcast, welcome and go back to one of my first episodes. I titled it “Making Money with Mypoints.” Well, that was a while ago, but the offers are still as fresh and active as if they were picked off the salmonella free tomato vine just today. So if you have not checked my points out do so first.

But since that episode there are two sites that closely resemble the Mypoints model that I wanted to share with you. Each have their own particular slant to them, but do offer benefits if you are willing to spend time online – and who is not willing to do that???

So fire up your web browser and go to www.boomertowne.com. This really is an impressive community. Their target audience are the baby boomers out there the however many million strong WWII babies. The generation that is completely going to obliterate my social security savings from my retirement future. But I digress. Boomertowne does have a large community that is growing everyday, but the rewards and incentives on boomertowne are not limited to those aging Americans who are facing retirement and dementia. Anyone can sign up and start collecting giftcards right away! At boomertowne, you get credit for participating in the boomertowne community. So playing their games online with other boomertowne members, gets you points. Commenting on someone’s boomertowne blog, get’s you points, adding to your blog, get’s you points. And on and on it could go! The rewards are relatively easy to get and it will be fun doing it. SO do check out boomertowne.com.

A second Mypoints want to be that is mostly off target is www.bondrewards.com I say off target because going to the website and looking around doesn’t give you the feeling of community like Mypoints or boomertowne. It portrays itself for what it mostly is, a site where if you buy something through their referral links, you get money back. There are several sites like that. However, what makes this site of interest is the ‘Surveys’ section of the website. There is always an active list of surveys that you can fill out and receive the bondrewards for your time. The strength of the bondrewards program is the rewards. You don’t earn points towards something, you actually earn bond dollars. And you buy things with your dollars, for instance, at $100 bond dollars which is easy to get in about a month and a half, you can get a $100 US savings bond. It’s that easy, so do check that out…

Now these are just two of the best examples of Mypoints want to be sites. There are several out there, many I would not recommend. But to save me the emails, I am going to give you a site that reviews and comments on many, many of the make money online sites. Go to www.comparerewards.com and read some of the past few blog posts. You might find out about a new program you want to join, and several programs you should not take part in. One example of that is actually a site I mentioned a while ago. Remember Netwinner. Well it turned out that while they did pay out many of their little prizes (like 20-50 dollars) they never had a major cash prize winner, especially well after the time that statistically a million dollar prize should have been won. As an example, if you have a 1 in 25 chance of winning something and you play a game 100 times, you should have one at least one prize. However with Netwinner, while the odds were way higher than 1 in 25, they were well over 4 times the number when a grand prize winner should have won by chance… SO watch out netwinner, we’re on to you…

And that brings us to a close of another titillating episode. If you have any money making or saving websites you would like to share on the podcast, please email me at troystory3(at)aol.com. Good night!

Welcome to this week’s ten minute lesson. This is $10 a week with Troy Price and I am Troy Price. I am the perfect condiment for your sandwich of life. You wouldn’t believe the work I put into last week’s episode. I wrote the script recorded and edited the thing, uploaded the file. But you know, it was so worth it. There was a 40% increase in downloads of the show! Thank you to everybody who listened and then told a friend. The big, big numbers we’re getting will make us as big as a third teir cable show in a major market. That’s what brings in the sponsors and the big bucks. Then I can pour the money into equipment and training and this soon will become the hugest podcast in the world!!! You can say you listened to it back in the early 2000’s and loved it then (you do love it right?) Anyway, I’m going to do something a little bit different this week and spend some time doing a few things at one store, and leveraging the internet to make some good money over the next few months and then a little bit of money over the rest of your life. So sit back, relax, and begin to think about how you can make money while you are grocery shopping. This Episode can best be titled, ‘Making Money with Kroger” That will really make sense once you hear it, so let’s jump into it!

Our regional mega chain of supermarkets is named Kroger and while I will be using the word Kroger a lot over the next 10 minutes. The same programs should be offered at your local supermarket. So try these out regardless of your store.

Let’s cover the big, time sensitive opportunities first. Kroger (insert your own store’s name here) is offering a deal with their gift cards. If you buy a $300 dollar gift card, you get $30 free, or buy a $400 get $40 free and buy a $500 gift card, get $50 free. So there is one way to make money right there – If you have an extra unbudgeted 300, 400 or 500 dollars sitting around your house. However, I’ve put the perks of this program and what I know about Ebay together into a cash machine that should work for you as well. First, make out your list for your weekly needs of your grocerys. And before you start shopping, go to the service desk and buy your $300 Kroger gift card. Put this on your credit card for reasons I will tell you later. Hopefully, you put it on a credit card that is part of a rewards program and you can at least earn $3 just for buying the card. So do your shopping the way you would usually and at the end pay with your newly purchased gift card. Keep your receipt (let’s say as an example you bought $110.15 cents worth of groceries), you want to know the balance left on your card ($219.85). And when you get home and after you put your groceries away, head straight to your computer. Fire up Ebay and list your card on ebay as a Kroger gift card with a balance of whatever. Here is why. Step one, I was just on ebay and there was not one Kroger gift card listed on ebay, so what we have is a niche. It seems that only listeners of this podcast are going to do this, so if someone wants to save money on the gift card, they will come to you! Secondly, a slightly used, card, one with a balance that is not even makes a higher percentage at auction than a nice round 330, 440 or 550 card. So a card with a 221.34 cent balance could earn you back something like 98% while a 330 card would only earn you back 94-6%. The mentality is that the buyer feels like they are getting something from someone that is trying to get rid of something they do not want rather than someone who is into selling something on the internet solely to make money (which you actually are) Anyway it works. So list the card for a 5 day auction. And sit back and watch. And here’s the risky part. What the auction brings is what you get in your pocket so you might get up to something like 208 bucks, Since you already spend over 110 on groceries, you will make something like 18 on that transaction. You immediately pay off the credit card balance and pocket the rest. You can do this every week and make something like 80 a month – that’s a cable bill, or a water bill or fun money for a big night on the town… All for very little work.

Next, let’s get some green by going green with Kroger… File this under, pennies makes dollars because, if you use Kroger’s new canvas bags to take your groceries home, you will save 4 cents per bag you reuse, so while that’s hot a huge savings saving 4 cents per bag for each trip will add up for multiple bags for multiple trips. The kicker is the price of the bag as of today is 99 cents… Now, I am going to share how to get your self two bags for free! The first is sign up for a new Kroger frequent shopper card. Even if you have an old one, re-sign-up on your new card. On your new card will be a coupon for a free canvas reusable bag good for 4 cents every time you use it. Now, if you want another one, google, Kroger canvas bag design contest. If you submit a design, mine simply said go green at Kroger, and you get another canvas bag good for 4 cents every time you use it credited to your frequent shopper card! So, do check that out if you save 8 cents a week for the rest of your life, it could add up to over $200!

Lastly, that Kroger card can help you save for College. There is a lesser used program connected to Upromise where you connect your Kroger card to your upromise account and it sometimes doubles the amount that you save through upromise. So check that out! And boom, you’ve made and saved some real money by shopping at Kroger and by using the internet! Tune in next week to hear how you can make and save money by watching TV. Kidding, I’m only kidding. But hey, I might check into that…

Here’s something I haven’y said in a while… The background music is provided by Barry Mc Cabe, and he is part of the podsafe music Network and a link to his work will be found at (http://music.podshow.com/music/listeners/artistdetails.php?BandHash=6e23a625689beac30d918af11e098a42).

Welcome to this week’s ten minute lesson. This is $10 a week with Troy Price and I am Troy Price. I am entertained by the internet so I can find free or low cost offers that make you money. This podcast began over two years ago and is going strong! This week I am trying something I haven’t tried for a while. This episode is pre-scripted. I know the websites I am going to share, and the segues that are going to take me from one topic to the other. I am stoked and ready to go (FYI: yes, my spell checker did just flag stoked). This week, we’re going to talk about a site that might save your entertainment dollars, a site that should make you literally dollars the first time you use it, and you know I pack so much info into those two sites that I am only going to share two sites but trust me, it will be worth your while. This will really make sense once you hear it, so let’s jump into it!

Segment 1: Bong! Save your entertainment money…

I am going to share how I spend my personal entertainment dollars. We subscribe to Dish Network. We used to have Direct TV, but switched over to Dish and saved $6 a month for the same basic Channels. Do you need a referral to switch over to Dish yourself? Shoot me an email and I will connect you with a referral that will get you a few perks for signing up. Also, I save a few bucks a year by signing up for email billing rather than regular paper billing. And I get 5 Cinimax channels for a penny a year because I have my bill charged to my debit card. So when I want to rent a movie I go to my local McDonald’s and rent a dollar movie from the Redbox there or the Movie Cube at our local Kroger. Further, If I want to read something I visit the local Library or subscribe to a magazine at www.dealcatcher.com for free. And, the newest way I save my entertainment dollar is by going to www.sidereel.com . Imagine myspace surrounding movies or TV series and all the insider scoop about all the shows or movies and then, there are various member links suggested that provide scenes or clips from TV episodes or movies that you can actually watch on your computer. Now, I have a few hesitations from clicking on all the links provided, do click at your own risk, but a rule I apply is I don’t download any clips to my computer, I think the risk of viruses are to great, but streaming should produce less risk to your computer. So check that out!

Next, Segment 2, Ring, ring, it is cash calling…

I was skeptical of this at first but really tried this and it does work. This new internet service plays an ad before callers are connected to your number, and you get paid a nickel for each call that is placed to you. Imagine all the calls that can come your way and all the money that can come rolling into your pocket. What you need to do is go to www.brring.com and sign up at the site. What you will get is a local ‘brring’ telephone number that is forwarded to your number after that ad I mentioned is played. So instead of giving people out your home number, you give out your bring number and it is connected to you without people being able to google your address and stalk you. Do you hear that, I am on to you littlesissygirl12, I know how you found my house! Anyway, Brring is a neat service that is worth a look. Here’s a way you can hear what the ads sound like before you sign up for the service. Please call my bring number is 502.225.1005. Do call it and hear the ad and how the hold music plays before you are connect to my phone. When you hear someone answer the phone or our fax pick up, simply just hang up, we’ll know it’s you. So, after you make that call, and then sign up for brring, here are a few implementation ideas that might really boost your brring earnings. Sign up on a website requesting more information about a network marketing or home base business opportunity. You will get at least 50 calls for that and that is money in your pocket. Here’s another, if you have a podcast, promote your brring number as your podcast listenerline. Each call will result in more money in your pocket. And lastly, leave the number in random places where people might want to try the number. For instance, if you go into a bathroom at any rest areas on interstate 91, you will see written in blue ink, “for a good time call 502.225.1005. And here is the secret. My calls really are not forwarded to my home phone. I am on a phone plan what includes a second number that has a special ring. Now on my phone plan I also have voicemail from the phone company and in the voicemail set-up I fixed it so that my second number, the special ring number goes straight to voicemail. I never hear the ring and I never check that voicemail. So everytime I don’t hear that ring, I make a nickel. I really think this one is going to pay off big for me, but it is too new to tell. Of course friends I will let you know in future episodes…

So that is it, two ways you can make at least $10 a week this week. Again, I want to hear from you. Let me know if you like the more scripted episodes, Let me know if you are making money with these tips, do you have any money making or saving websites you would like to share on the podcast, please email me at troystory3(at)aol.com. Or, call into our listenerline and leave a voicemail. That number is 641.715.3900 and then enter the show id of 22505. Finally, all the links on this podcast as well as all my past episodes are available at 10aweek.wordpress.com. Check it out. Good night!
